      We invite children and their grownups to join us from home for 20-25 minutes of stories and hands-on activities from the Cambridge STEAM Initiative's STEAM@Home collection available on Find It Cambridge. Caregivers are asked to participate in the program as they will be exploring STEAM with a variety of materials! Gather activity materials before Story Time if you plan to participate in the hands-on activities. Register below. Zoom link will be emailed to registrants one hour before the program begins. Virtual STEAM Story Time is free and open to the public and is not recorded. If you register but later find you cannot attend, please remember to cancel your registration to make space for others.       Quilting is a textile art based on community, connection, and collaboration. Whether you are a beginning sewist or experienced crafter, quilting is a great entry way into new, meaningful, and exciting projects. And it can be done with materials and scraps from around the home- from quilting cotton to old curtains. Celebrated quilting artist Michael C. Thorpe will talk about his boundary breaking work and teach you how to make your own quilt block in this engaging workshop! Michael C. Thorpe is a visual artist living and working out of New York, New York, with a primary focus in textiles. His mother, Susan Richards, taught him the art and craft of quilting. Thorpe is exploring the limitations of both social constructs and textiles by combining fabrics, imagery and language to evoke alternative perspectives on the human experience.
