      Come be amazed by circus artist Li Liu’s hand balancing, plate spinning, and foot juggling acrobatics! We invite children and their grownups to join us from home for a live acrobatic show presented on Zoom. Register below. Zoom link will be emailed to registrants one hour before the program begins. Virtual Summer Reading Programs are free and open to the public and are not recorded. A lifelong social justice educator, they believe we can transform ourselves and the world we live in by connecting to our breath in a safe, inclusive, trauma-informed learning environment.       Borrow a bag of pre-selected library books for your kids and teens! Drop by this pop-up event outside your neighborhood branch and pick up a bag of 3-5 library books for your young readers. Title selections will be curated by Cambridge Public Library Youth Services Librarians. Please wear a face covering and maintain 6 feet of distance between yourself, Library Staff, and other patrons. Bins will also be available for library returns.

    • [Registration Required] Ballroom Dance Class with Michael Winward

      Registration is required. Zoom link will be sent out prior to class. Join instructor Michael Winward for this beginner-level ballroom dance workshop. Michael takes a gender-neutral approach, teaching routines that include the leader and follower roles of each dance style. No partner is necessary to attend. This workshop is designed for solo participants dancing in their living spaces. It will include a brief history, acknowledging the origins of each dance style: Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Cha-cha, Rumba, and East Coast Swing. Michael is an independent dance artist, based in Boston. He is the founding director of Steps in Time®, an adaptive ballroom dance program serving assisted living and memory care communities in and around Greater Boston. He is the co-producer of Dancing Queerly, an annual festival of performances, workshops, discussions and social dance gatherings by and for the LGBTQ+ community.

    • Cambridge Book Bike Virtual Story Time

      The Cambridge Book Bike Team invites children and their grownups to join us from home for 20-25 minutes of songs, stories, and rhymes. Caregivers are asked to participate in the program with their children--it will be as important as ever to model movement and song for your little one during this virtual session. Plan to join in, sing along, and move around! Register below. Zoom link will be emailed to registrants one hour before the program begins. This Book Bike Virtual Story Time is free and open to the public and is not recorded. The Cambridge Book Bike is a collaboration among the Agenda for Children Literacy Initative, the Cambridge Public Library, and the Center for Families.
