    • CANCELED: Materials Return (O'Connell)

      O'Connell Branch, 48 Sixth St., Cambridge, MA 02141

      We are now accepting returns of any Minuteman Library Network materials at the O'Connell Branch, generally Tuesdays and Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Leave your items in the Book Drop, located near the entrance to the parking lot on Thorndike Street. It may take up to one week for items to be removed from your card. During the COVID-19 crisis, no overdue fines are being charged on any materials checked out of Cambridge Public Library locations. You may also return any Minuteman Library Network materials via the Main Library outside book drop (available 24/7). We are also offering limited return hours at other branch locations, subject to scheduling changes. Please check the library calendar or call the Main Library at 617-349-4040 for up-to-date information on return hours at all locations.

      We invite children and their grownups to join us from home for 20-25 minutes of songs, stories, and rhymes. Caregivers are asked to participate in the program with their children--it will be as important as ever to model movement and song for your little one during this virtual session. Plan to join in, sing along, and move around! Register below. Zoom link will be emailed to registrants one hour before the program begins. Virtual Family Story Time is free and open to the public and is not recorded. If you register but later find you cannot attend, please remember to cancel your registration to make space for others.

      Interested in making your own vinyl stickers? Learn the fundamentals of using Google Drawing to design and edit images for customized stickers. You'll also be introduced to our in-house vinyl cutter machine. Participants who wish may share a completed design file to be made into a sticker in The Hive. Patrons can arrange to collect their finished stickers at Contactless Pickup. Google Drawing is a free web-based application. Computer proficiency is necessary for this course. So gather some flowers, table cloth, wintery pinecones, or decor of choice and set your table in style. Ludvie Victor-Ackerman, principal designer for LVA1designs, will show us how to the art of tablescaping by creating menus, unique place cards, and adding all the fixings for a fun holiday atmosphere. LUDVIE VICTOR-ACKERMAN, an HR professional by the day, is the owner and principal designer of LVAdesigns, a boutique stationery and event planning studio. Ever the perfectionist, she is obsessive over details and works tirelessly to deliver only the highest quality design and memorable experiences. She is passionate about bringing creative visions to life. Ludvie holds a bachelor’s degrees in Marketing and Information Design & Corporate Communications from Bentley University. When she is not designing or planning events, Ludvie can found baking and crafting with her two incredible sons and husband in Boston, Massachusetts. *Registration required for Zoom link.
