      We are now accepting returns of any Minuteman Library Network materials at the Boudreau Branch, generally on Mondays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Wednesdays, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Leave your items in the large basket outside the door. For your health and safety, please do not touch any other items in the returns basket. It may take up to one week for items to be removed from your card. During the COVID-19 crisis, no overdue fines are being charged on any materials checked out of Cambridge Public Library locations. You may also return any Minuteman Library Network materials via the Main Library outside book drop (available 24/7). We are also offering limited return hours at other branch locations, subject to scheduling changes. Enjoy time together with other parents, caregivers, and babies to learn, play, and develop language and motor skills in this six-week series, Wednesdays at 10 a.m. January 20 - February 24. Pre-walking children and their caregivers. Come prepared to sit one-on-one with your pre-walking baby in your lap. Register below at any point during the six-week series. Registering will sign you up for all remaining sessions in the series. Zoom link will be emailed to registrants one hour before the program begins.       There's nothing quite like a good bookmark to make opening up a book all the more exciting. Learn the fundamentals of using Inkscape to design and edit images for a bookmark. You'll also be introduced to our in-house laser cutting machines. Participants who wish may share a completed design file to be made into a bookmark from recycled leather* in The Hive. Patrons can arrange to collect their finished bookmarks at Contactless Pickup. Inkscape is a free application that can be downloaded from the internet. Basic computer skills are necessary for this course and it is recommended that you download the software in advance of the event.     • Vaccines and the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Primer for the Public

      Registration is required. Zoom link will be sent out prior to the event. As the COVID-19 pandemic surpasses 400,000 deaths in the US and more than 2 million worldwide, vaccines are becoming available that were made at record speed. Dr. Zuri Sullivan and Dr. Bruce Walker of the Ragon Institute will provide information geared to the general public as to where the virus that causes COVID-19 came from, how it causes disease, how the body fights back, how vaccines work, the safety and efficacy of those COVID-19 vaccines currently being rolled out, and the prospects for these vaccines to contain the pandemic now that mutant viruses are arising. Josefine Wendel of the Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) will highlight the work of the health department in vaccine roll-out in Cambridge and provide information about current vaccine eligibility and how people can register for a vaccine appointment. The event will also include a question and answer session. The Ragon Institute, located in Kendall Square, has been involved in COVID-related research since the virus was first identified in China a year ago, and founding member Dr. Dan Barouch has developed a single dose vaccine being produced by Johnson and Johnson that is currently in phase 3 trials.
