      We are now accepting returns of any Minuteman Library Network materials at the O'Connell Branch, generally Tuesdays and Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Leave your items in the Book Drop, located near the entrance to the parking lot on Thorndike Street. It may take up to one week for items to be removed from your card. During the COVID-19 crisis, no overdue fines are being charged on any materials checked out of Cambridge Public Library locations. You may also return any Minuteman Library Network materials via the Main Library outside book drop (available 24/7). We are also offering limited return hours at other branch locations, subject to scheduling changes.       There's nothing quite like a good bookmark to make opening up a book all the more exciting. Learn the fundamentals of using Inkscape to design and edit images for a bookmark. You'll also be introduced to our in-house laser cutting machines. Participants who wish may share a completed design file to be made into a bookmark from recycled leather* in The Hive. Patrons can arrange to collect their finished bookmarks at Contactless Pickup. Inkscape is a free application that can be downloaded from the internet. Basic computer skills are necessary for this course and it is recommended that you download the software in advance of the event.       March 23rd Selection: Euripides The Medea. Reading Interests: We concentrate on Great Books in the following areas: a long novel over the summer, two sections of poetry and short stories, a book of the Bible, a Shakespeare play, an ancient and modern drama, a work of science, a smaller work of fiction, an even smaller work of fiction, and a rotating mix of politics, philosophy, and religion. Authors read in the past five years include Dickens, Keats and Yeats, O'Connor and Munro, Ecclesiastes, Sophocles and August Wilson, Darwin, Austen, Duras, The Federalist Papers, and Arendt. Requirements: Just two: read the scheduled work and participate in the discussion. Copies of the upcoming book are available at the Main Library Question and Answer desk. Registration is required. Join panelists Candice Benbow, Candace McDuffie, and Brande Victorian as they take us on a musical journey of some of the best moments in Hip Hop. Candice Benbow is a writer and public theologian who centers her work at the intersections of faith, feminism, and culture. She has written for Essence, Glamour, and Madam Noire. Her first book, Red Lip Theology, will be released in February 2022 by Convergent Books. Candace McDuffie is a respected cultural critic and music journalist who focuses on the intersection of race, gender, and entertainment. Her critically acclaimed book 50 Rappers Who Changed the World, was published last year. Her work has been featured at Entertainment Weekly, Glamour, and Vibe Magazine. Brande Victorian is the Senior Entertainment Editor at ESSENCE magazine where she covers all things film, TV, radio, books, and podcasts across print and digital. When not penning stories or interviewing celebrities, she lends her expertise on Black women and pop culture to national outlets such as Access Hollywood, The Associated Press, and ESPNW. WWOC Radio WWOC Radio is Boston’s new #1 source for Hip Hop, R&B, Neo to Eclectic Soul, and gospel music. WWOC is where Boston’s urban listening audience goes for everything Black Music, infotainment and culture. We strive to be a hands-on community collaborator, consistently providing a platform to elevate the voices of Boston’s communities of color.
