  STEAM Academy: Innovators for Purpose Summer Studio

  Innovators for Purpose (iFp) Studio is a teen-powered design and innovation program where teens channel their energy and creative vision to imagine and build a better world. Blending art, design, science, technology and storytelling within a social justice framework, teens engage in real-world client-sponsored projects. July 6 - August 6, weekdays from 9:15am-3:30pm at the Main Library Innovators for Purpose (iFp) is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that inspires high-potential, diverse young people to discover their passions, develop innovative mindsets and cultivate marketable skills to solve problems they care most about. Summer Studio teens are funded in part through the Mayor's Summer Youth Program. The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy is part Cambridge STEAM Initiative's efforts to enhance and expand students’ access to quality STEAM learning experiences.   The Hip Hop Tranformation

  The Hip Hop Transformation (THHT) is an award-winning program for youth between the ages of 14-18 offered by the Cambridge Community Center in partnership with The Bridge Sound and Stage, the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program, and the Cambridge Safety Net Collaborative. THHT teaches teens the history of hip hop culture, the role hip hop culture plays in their lives and society, and equips students with the resource and support to produce, write, record, perform, and distribute their own authentic hip hop music.   Extended reality (XR) opens the doorway to worlds and experiences outside the every day through virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality equipment. Test drive our Microsoft HoloLens augmented reality glasses, Structure Sensor 3D scanner, Merge headsets and more.   Interested in podcasting, audio production or video production? The Hive is home to two state-of-the-art recording studios. Become familiarized with the basics of the equipment and software in these tools. Contribute to our community-generated media project and become badged to use these spaces for your own projects.   Central Square Advisory Committee meeting

  The Community Development Department’s Environment & Transportation and Community Planning Divisions will jointly present recent design alternatives for Carl Barron Plaza, as part of the River St Reconstruction project. The alternatives were recently presented in late June to the public. This meeting will offer CSAC members an opportunity to provide feedback to the planning and design team. The Central Square Advisory Committee is appointed by the City Manager to undertake all large project reviews of variances and special permits for activities within the Central Square Overlay District, and to monitor the progress of the Central Square Non-Zoning Recommendations of the 2013 K2C2 Study. This meeting will be held pursuant to the provisions outlined in Section 20.300 of the Zoning Ordinance. The committee meeting will be held virtually through Zoom. Members of the public may watch and participate in the hearing through Zoom.
