    • Outdoor Baby Lapsit (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Just for you and the baby! Enjoy time together with other parents, caregivers and babies to learn, play, and develop language and motor skills. Come prepared to sit outside on the ground one-on-one with your baby in your lap. This program will be held in Joan Lorentz Park on the lawn outside the Main Library.       Put on your dancing shoes and head over for a morning of singing and dancing! For children of all ages and their grown-ups. This program will be held outside of the O'Neill Branch Library.       September read: Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom by David W. Blight Reading interests: We read and discuss popular non-fiction. Members will suggest and the facilitator will decide on future selections from titles available in the Minuteman Library Network. How to get the print book: Copies of the print book are set aside at the Main Library. Visit the Main Library at 449 Broadway during service hours and a staff member can help you check out a copy. How to get the e-book or digital audiobook: This month’s book is available as an e-book through OverDrive or the Libby app, and as a digital audiobook through OverDrive or the Libby app. How to register: Registration is required for this event. Click the registration link below to register. This event is onsite at Main, with the option to attend virtually. A Zoom link will be sent to all registered participants 1 hour before the event.       Innovators for Purpose (iFp) Studio is a teen-powered design and innovation program where teens channel their energy and creative vision to imagine and build a better world. Blending art, design, science, technology and storytelling within a social justice framework, teens engage in real-world client-sponsored projects. Fall Mini-Session: Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 13-30, 3:30-6:30 p.m., Community Room Innovators for Purpose (iFp) is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that inspires high-potential, diverse young people to discover their passions, develop innovative mindsets and cultivate marketable skills to solve problems they care most about. Summer Studio teens are funded in part through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program. The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy is part of Cambridge STEAM Initiative's efforts to enhance and expand students’ access to quality STEAM learning experiences. Made possible by generous support from the Eric and Jane Nord Family Fund and Verizon.

      Enjoy a special evening of music with esteemed cellist Kett Lee! Come with your picnic and your loved ones to Joan Lorentz Park, outside the Main Library and prepare for the perfect fall evening! Registration is not required. Cellist Kett Lee was the youngest member of the Malaysia's National Symphony Orchestra and Radio Television Orchestra before coming to the US in 2003. He holds performance diplomas from The Boston Conservatory and Longy School of Music and is the cellist of the nationally acclaimed Boston String Ensemble and Voyage Piano Trio.
