      Join us for a half-hour of stories in the plaza outside the Central Square Branch Library, Franklin Street side, weather permitting. For ages birth-5 with caregivers.

      Join us for an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Class. This class will be taught at an introductory level. No testing is needed, but registration is required.     • Outdoor Story Time (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      We invite children and their grown-ups to join us for 20-25 minutes of songs, stories, and rhymes. This program will be held in Joan Lorentz Park on the lawn outside the Main Library. In the event of inclement weather, this program will be canceled. Please call 617-349-4038 for more information.

      We invite children and their grown-ups to join us for 20-25 minutes of songs, stories and rhymes. This program will be held outside the O'Neill Branch Library. In the event of inclement weather, we will hold the program indoors. Please call 617-349-4023 for more information.

Staff will assist makers as they are able. Please note: Equipment and Studio Reservations are open to makers who have participated in Hive training and are badged to utilize equipment or studio spaces.     • STEAM Academy: Innovators for Purpose (Main)

      Innovators for Purpose (iFp) Studio is a teen-powered design and innovation program where teens channel their energy and creative vision to imagine and build a better world. Blending art, design, science, technology and storytelling within a social justice framework, teens engage in real-world client-sponsored projects. Fall Mini-Session: Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 13-30, 3:30-6:30 p.m., Community Room Innovators for Purpose (iFp) is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that inspires high-potential, diverse young people to discover their passions, develop innovative mindsets and cultivate marketable skills to solve problems they care most about. Summer Studio teens are funded in part through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program. The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy is part of Cambridge STEAM Initiative's efforts to enhance and expand students’ access to quality STEAM learning experiences. Made possible by generous support from the Eric and Jane Nord Family Fund and Verizon.

    • Glowforge 201 (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      You have learned the basics of our Glowforge Pro and are ready to level up! Learn how to properly select materials for your project, optimize artwork and file format, utilize the camera for focusing and scanning, and generally maintain the machine. Completion of this workshop earns you a badge for the Glowforge laser cutter. As a badged maker, you are able to reserve the Glowforge Pro for use on our equipment booking page during designated times. Note: Participation in the separate Zing 101 workshop is required to operate our Epilog Zing laser cutter. You must complete Hive Safety Training & Glowforge 101 before participating in this program.
