      Join Ailene Gerhardt to explore the the needs and unique considerations of solo agers, review specific needs related to healthcare and community, tips and strategies for avoiding loneliness and isolation, and tools for creating and identifying a support system. This program is co-sponsored by Cambridge Neighbors. Registration is required.

    • Intermediate ESOL Class (Central Square)

      Central Square Branch, 45 Pearl St., Cambridge, MA 02139

      Join us for an English for Speakers of Other Languages Class. This class will be taught at an intermediate level. No testing is needed, but registration is required. The is an in-person class. Please register below. Intermediate ESOL Class is free and open to the public. If you register but later find you cannot attend, please remember to cancel your registration to make space for others.     • Outdoor Story Time (O'Neill)

      O'Neill Branch, 70 Rindge Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140

      We invite children and their grown-ups to join us for 20-25 minutes of songs, stories and rhymes. This program will be held outside the O'Neill Branch Library. In the event of inclement weather, we will hold the program indoors. Please call 617-349-4023 for more information.

      We invite children and their grown-ups to join us for a special story time with Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui to celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day. This program will be held in Joan Lorentz Park on the lawn outside the Main Library. In the event of inclement weather, this program will be rescheduled for Saturday, October 9 at 11 a.m. Please call 617-349-4038 for more information.

      Are you a badged Hive maker buzzing with project ideas? During "Equipment and Studio Reservations" you are welcome to reserve any equipment or studio spaces you are badged on. Staff will assist makers as they are able. Please note: Equipment and Studio Reservations are open to makers who have participated in Hive training and are badged to utilize equipment or studio spaces.     • STEAM Academy: Innovators for Purpose (Main)

      Innovators for Purpose (iFp) Studio is a teen-powered design and innovation program where teens channel their energy and creative vision to imagine and build a better world. Blending art, design, science, technology and storytelling within a social justice framework, teens engage in real-world client-sponsored projects. Mondays and Thursdays, Sept. 27 - Dec 23 (Learning Lab) Innovators for Purpose (iFp) is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that inspires high-potential, diverse young people to discover their passions, develop innovative mindsets and cultivate marketable skills to solve problems they care most about. Summer Studio teens are funded in part through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program. The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy is part of Cambridge STEAM Initiative's efforts to enhance and expand students’ access to quality STEAM learning experiences. Made possible by generous support from the Eric and Jane Nord Family Fund and Verizon.

    • Hive Safety Training and Glowforge 101 (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Are you interested in using The Hive? In this workshop you will learn about our makerspace, how to utilize the resources we offer and how to keep safe in The Hive. You will also create your Hive badge ID using our Glowforge laser cutter and learn how to utilize this piece of equipment to cut and engrave your own creations. Find out what you need to get started as a maker in The Hive here. Completion of Hive Safety Training is the entry point to making, innovating, and collaborating in this space. Makers must also sign The Hive User Agreement and Waivers.
