Learn how to get more life out of your clothes or put household textiles to new use in this monthly hands-on workshop! Teaching artist Jessamy Kilcollins will demonstrate different techniques each month and provide guidance on your projects. Supply kits will be available for registered participants to pick up at the Valente Branch (826 Cambridge St) in mid-January.
This program will take place online. Space is limited and registration is required for each session. A Zoom link will be sent to registrants one hour before the program begins.
About Jessamy Kilcollins: Jessamy Kilcollins is a textile artist, fashion designer and mender with a focus on sustainability and handcraft processes. She holds a BFA in Fibers and a Certificate in Fashion Design from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. In January 2020, she was one of eight designers from the Northeast selected to participate in a sustainable fashion design competition called Project Upcycle, and she was awarded second place for her gala look sewed from repurposed secondhand clothing. She has coordinated and participated in sustainability-focused mending pop-up events in and around Somerville, MA, where she lives with her partner and two cats.
