      Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. You’ll build the skills and confidence you need to reach out and provide initial support to those who are struggling. You’ll also learn how to help connect them to appropriate support. This course will be taught in collaboration with Cambridge Public Library and We Heal Ourselves with Love and Empowerment (WHOLE). The instructors are Marie Mathieu, Cambridge Public Library Social Worker, and Reverend Lorraine Thornhill. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required.

      Spaghetti for breakfast? Yes, please. The Library is happy to welcome back The Haitian Croissant for another edition of Napsnacks. In celebration of Haitian Flag Day, chef and blogger Ayida Solé will demonstrate and walk us through Hatian Spaghetti. Haitian Spaghetti is subject to many variations and is often prepared according to the ingredients available at the time. Its flavor is rich with fresh vegetables, herbs, and different kinds of meats. In general, hot dog sausages or herring are used in this recipe but may be substituted for other proteins or vegetables. Ingredients: 1/2 of a roasted spaghetti squash (roasted in the oven with 1 tbsp of drizzled olive oil) cooked for 30 min at 375 degrees (regular spaghetti can be substituted) 3 Kosher hot dogs (or any vegan alternative) 1 bell pepper 2 tbsp of tomato paste 1 tsp of salt 1 tsp of black pepper 2 tbsp of Haitian Epis or Green Seasoning 1/2 of a red onion 3 cloves of garlic 1 sprig of thyme Optional: 1/2 of a scotchbonnet pepper This program is supported by the Cambridge Public Library Foundation.

      During this reservation period, anyone who has completed Hive training and is badged to use equipment or studio(s) can reserve Hive equipment or studio spaces. Staff will assist participants as they are able.

      Join us outdoors at the O'Neill Branch for Dinoman Presents Dinosaurs! With magic, merry mayhem, and magnificent props, Dinoman takes the audience on a trip throughout the mesozoic era. How do we know dinosaurs were here? What is a fossil? How are they made? This program is fun and informative for all ages. In case of inclement weather, this program will be moved to Saturday, May 28, at 2 p.m.
