Next Steps for Developing Your Solo Aging Plan
Session 9: Assessing and Prioritizing What Needs to Get Done
Ailene Gerhardt, Board Certified Patient Advocate at Beacon Patient Solutions LLC, will explore the unique considerations and planning needs of solo agers (an adult who, because of choice or circumstance, is without the family support structure of adult children or close family members). Ailene will review specific needs related to healthcare, community, and programs and resources available to support solo agers. Cambridge Neighbors (www.cambridgeneighbors.org) is a membership-based nonprofit that provides a variety of supports, both practical and social, to older adults in Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Somerville, and Watertown who wish to remain safely and independently in their homes and communities as they age, for as long as possible.
This is a virtual event. A Zoom link will be sent to all registered participants one hour before the event.

Innovators for Purpose (iFp) Studio is a teen-powered design and innovation program where teens channel their energy and creative vision to imagine and build a better world. Blending art, design, science, technology and storytelling within a social justice framework, teens engage in real-world client-sponsored projects.
Innovators for Purpose (iFp) is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that inspires high-potential, diverse young people to discover their passions, develop innovative mindsets and cultivate marketable skills to solve problems they care most about. Summer Studio teens are funded in part through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program. The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy is part of Cambridge STEAM Initiative's efforts to enhance and expand students’ access to quality STEAM learning experiences. Reading interests: This group enjoys popular cookbooks. We will talk about what we learned, what recipes surprised us, what was tasty, and what we are keen to explore through cooking!
How to get the book: Copies of the print book will be set aside at the Collins Branch of the Cambridge Public Library. A copy of the book is reserved available for in-library use and browsing. Holds can be placed for pick-up at any location.
The event: Join friends and neighbors for a potluck! If you are bringing a dish for the potluck, please feel free to add to this spreadsheet.This book group will take place outdoors at the Collins Branch in the courtyard. We will discuss our experiences cooking from the book.

Join Katie Kitamura as she discusses her novel Intimacies with Meghan O'Rourke, the author of The Invisible Kingdom: Reimagining Chronic Illness. Intimacies is a story about an unnamed woman working as an interpreter in an international court. She is a woman of many languages and identities and is looking for a place to finally call home. Supported by the Cambridge Public Library Foundation.
Katie Kitamura’s most recent novel Intimacies is one of the New York Times’ 10 Best Books of 2021 and one of Barack Obama’s Favorite Books of 2021, and longlisted for the National Book Award. She is the author of A Separation, as well as Gone To The Forest and The Longshot, both finalists for the New York Public Library’s Young Lions Fiction Award. Her work has been translated into 21 languages and is being adapted for film and television.
Meghan O'Rourke is a writer, poet, and editor. She is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Invisible Kingdom: Reimagining Chronic Illness; the bestselling memoir The Long Goodbye; and the poetry collections Sun In Days, which was named a New York Times Best Poetry Book of the Year; Once; and Halflife, which was a finalist for the Patterson Poetry Prize and Britain’s Forward First Book Prize.
