    • Marking Their Place in History: Cambridge Black Trailblazers

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Join us for an exhibit of Cambridge Black Trailblazers, curated by the Cambridge Black History Project, on display at the Main Library from January 26 to February 28. Fifteen extraordinary Black Cantabrigians, whose lives and accomplishments have often been overlooked, will be featured in this exhibition: Roy Allen, Actor, TV Stage Manager, Director, Producer, Creator Joyce London Alexander, Chief US Magistrate Judge Barbara Ward Armstrong, Artist, Musician, Creator Olive Benson, Innovative Hair-Care Entrepreneur Calvin Burnett, Daring Artist and Gifted Teacher Dr. June Christmas, Pioneer in Public Health Dr. Cheryl Townsend Gilkes, Faith and Action Charles LeRoy Gittens, Secret Service Agent Johnny Hodges, Jazz Saxophonist Extraordinaire Kittie Towle Knox, Cycling Pioneer and Champion Racer Gertrude Wright Morgan, Teacher and a Force for Change Henry F. Owens, Entrepreneur Elizabeth Miller Rawlins, Teacher, Educational Leader, and Advocate for Educational Equity and Opportunity Gus Solomons Jr., Contemporary Dancer, Innovator, Mentor Leon West, Chef The exhibit is on display in the lobby, on the second floor, and on the gallery wall on L2. Illustrated bookmarks, created by the Cambridge Black History Project detailing the lives of these Black Trailblazers, will be available. Join us for an opening reception on January 26 at 6:30 pm.

    • Studio Recording 101 (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Are you interested in podcasting, audio production, or video production? The Hive has two state-of-the-art recording studios! Join this workshop to become familiar with studio equipment and software. Registration is required. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.

    • Equipment and Studio Reservations (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      During this reservation period, anyone who has completed Hive training and is badged to use equipment or studio(s) can reserve Hive equipment or studio spaces. Staff will assist participants as they are able.

    • Create a Quilt Square (O'Neill)

      O'Neill Branch, 70 Rindge Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140

      People of all ages and sewing abilities are welcome to come to the Library and create a square for our Community Quilt. Using fabric markers, glue or a needle and thread, your unique piece of fabric art will contribute to our collective creation. We will work on constructing our quilt on Saturday February 11, 1:30-4:30 p.m. This series is part of the O'Neill Community Quilt Project. Visit our calendar for more event listings.

    • A Cultural Celebration of Chinese New Year

      Join us for a celebration of Chinese New Year on Saturday, February 4 at the Lecture Hall of the Main Library. Program will include: A recitatioj of Tang poems Dance/Talent show/Lion dance Traditional Chinese New Year stories Lantern riddles game New Year food tasting
