While serious crime in Cambridge has risen 4% when compared with the first 3 quarters of 2011, when measured against the 5-year weighted average for this time frame, a 2% decline (68 fewer crimes than avg) has been recorded. The majority of the increase from 2011 to 2012 can be attributed to the overall increase in larceny (+8%), with 147 more thefts reported when compared with the first nine months of 2011.
A detailed analysis of all statistics indicates that there were 100 additional property crimes recorded in the first 3 quarters of 2012, which translates to a 4% incline when placed against the 2011 statistics. Violent crime has fallen 3% over the first 9 months of the year.
