Self-Defense Training

Self-Defense Training

To allow women in Cambridge to gain the tools necessary to protect themselves, the Cambridge Police Department currently offers a self-defense training course for women ages 16 and older who live or work in the City of Cambridge.

Our Women's Self-Defense Program is a program of realistic, self defense tactics and techniques. This program is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.

Free courses are taught by Cambridge Police Officers.

Similarly courses are currently being taught by many colleges, universities and police departments. The growing, wide spread acceptance of this system is primarily due to the ease, simplicity and effectiveness of the tactics, solid research, legal defensibility and unique teaching methodology. The training is dedicated to teaching woman defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assaults, by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense/martial arts tactics. This system of realistic defense will provide a woman with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance.

Safety and survival in today’s world requires a definite course of action. Effective options are provided by teaching women to take an active role in their own self-defense and psychological well being.
