Superintendent Albert

The Cambridge Police Department held a ceremony this morning inside the Sullivan Chamber at the City of Cambridge City Hall for Jack Albert, who was promoted to the rank of Police Superintendent.

Superintendent Albert joined the Cambridge Police Department in 1987 and has served in a variety of units during his distinguished career with the Cambridge Police, including Patrol Operations, Community Services, Traffic Enforcement, and Investigations. Most recently, he served as Deputy Superintendent for Day Operations. Raised in Cambridge, Superintendent Albert has served in a supervisory and leadership capacity within the Cambridge Police Department since 2000.

Superintendent Albert will oversee the Operations Division, while Superintendent Christine Elow will be responsible for overseeing the Support Services Division. Steven DeMarco retired from the Cambridge Police Department on August 23, 2019 after spending the last two years serving as the Superintendent of Support Services.

Mayor Marc McGovern, Vice Mayor Jan Devereux, City Manager Louis A. DePasquale, Councilors Dennis Carlone, Craig Kelley and Timothy Toomey, and Cambridge Police Commissioner Branville G. Bard, Jr. joined other city officials, officers, family members and friends at the ceremony to honor Superintendent Albert on his promotion.

Commissioner Bard stated, “Superintendent Albert has made significant contributions to the Department over his more than 30 years with the City and tenure as the longest-serving Deputy Superintendent. I have been greatly impressed with his admirable leadership qualities, high-level of service and results, and the respect he has garnered within the Department and community. I am confident that these qualities will continue to advance our mission and values, and collaborative efforts with both City and community partners.”
