Cambridge Police Department Welcomes 11 New Officers

2014 Class of New Police Officers

Earlier this week, the Cambridge Police Department welcomed 11 new police officers to its ranks at a swearing-in ceremony held in the Cambridge Public Library on Monday, November 17, 2014.

After successfully completing their training at the Lowell Police Academy and graduating last week, Officers Andy Cazeau, Robert Clinton, Kristen Cokely, Michael Foustoukos, Kyle Galuski, Thomas Gaudette, Francis Gutoski, Brian Harutunian, Alexander Ilyinskii, Melissa Miceli and Sean Norton were sworn in by City Clerk Donna P. Lopez in front of their family and friends. Also in attendance were Vice Mayor Dennis A. Benzan, City Manager Richard C. Rossi, Deputy City Manager Lisa C. Peterson, Deputy Fire Chief Gerard Mahoney, Emergency Communications Director Christina Giacobbe, members of City Council, and former and current members of the Cambridge Police Department.

Noteworthy facts about the 2014 class: 

 *   Four officers graduated from the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.

 *   The Cambridge Police Department now features officers that speak 13 different languages.

 *   Officer Francis Gutoski joins his father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great uncle as police officers that have served in the Cambridge Police Department.

 *   Officer Melissa Miceli joins her brother Michael as officers with the Cambridge Police Department.

 *   Officer Brian Harutunian served as the President of the Lowell Police Academy Class of 2014.
