Come and join us at the Library this week! Visit the Main Library in person, request holds for pickup at your nearest participating branch, or join us for one of our fabulous virtual programs!

Juneteenth Holiday

The Cambridge Public Library will be closed on Friday, June 18, and Saturday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth (June 19th). Juneteenth,  commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States, was designated an annual state holiday in Massachusetts in July 2020.

Book drops at all CPL locations will remain open for returns over this holiday period.

Virtual ESOL Classes

Virtual English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Introductory ESOL takes place at 11 a.m., beginner ESOL at 1 p.m., and intermediate ESOL at 3 p.m. Registration is required for each class. Please see the Library’s online events calendar for more details.

Celebrate PRIDE featuring George M. Johnson, All Boys Aren't Blue

Join us on Tuesday, June 8, at 6 p.m., as we kick off PRIDE month with a special event featuring George M. Johnson, the author of All Boys Aren't Blue, in conversation with Professor Kai M. Green. George M. Johnson is an activist based in New York who has written on race, gender, sex, and culture for more than forty national publications. Kai M. Green, a poet, filmmaker, and an interdisciplinary scholar, is an Assistant Professor of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality studies at Williams College. Registration is required.

Tweens & Teens Comics Workshop

On Wednesday, June 9, at 4 p.m., join Matt Ryan of Free Lunch Studios during the Tween/Teen Virtual Hangout hour for a comics workshop that will help you learn to be a better visual storyteller. Registration is required. Registering for the June 9 session will automatically register you for the June 16 session, too.

Wellness for Seniors: Let Your Yoga Dance®

Wellness for Seniors: Let Your Yoga Dance® is a virtual class on Thursday, June 10, at 11 a.m. Breathe, stretch, and dance your way to a blissful body, joyous heart, and a steady, quiet mind! Open to all levels and abilities. Registration is required.

Join Us for Story Time

We invite children and their grownups to join us from home for 20-25 minutes of engaging stories. Plan to sing along and move around!

Registration is required for each event.

Interview Techniques to Tell Your Family's History

Join Alyssa Pacy, the archivist at the Cambridge Public Library, to learn the fundamentals of oral history on Thursday, June 10, at noon. This workshop will prepare you to interview your family members. It will cover an introduction to oral history, interviewing techniques, the use of a digital recorder, and methods to preserve your recording. Registration is required.

Mindful Parenting: A Virtual Workshop with Zeenat Potia

The practice of mindfulness encourages openness and receptivity, conditions in which communication and emotional connection naturally flourish. In this virtual workshop on Thursday, June 10, at 7 p.m., we will learn how to regulate our nervous systems and model mindfulness for our families, so that we can navigate the inevitable waves of joy and frustration that accompany every parent’s experience with greater ease. Registration is required.

Virtual Sing-Along

Children and their grownups, please join us from home on Friday, June 11, at 11 a.m., for 20-25 minutes of wiggling, dancing, and Sing-Along favorites! Plan to sing and move around! Caregivers are asked to participate with their children. Registration is required.
