Cambridge Public Library will host Ashley C. Ford, author of the instant New York Times bestseller, Somebody’s Daughter: A Memoir, in a virtual program on December 1 at 6 p.m.

In Somebody’s Daughter: A Memoir, Ashley C. Ford writes about growing up a poor Black girl in Indiana with a family fragmented by incarceration. A fraught relationship with her mother and longing for a father, who is incarcerated for reasons unknown to Ford, provide the backdrop for much of her adolescence. This reality informs the journey Ford embarks on to find the threads between who she is, what she was born into, and the complicated familial love that often binds her family. Ford has taught creative nonfiction writing at The New School and has written or served as a guest editor for The Guardian, ELLE Magazine, BuzzFeed, OUT Magazine, Slate, Teen Vogue, New York Magazine, Allure, Marie Claire, and The New York Times.
