City Approves Extended Hours for O'Connell Branch

The City of Cambridge and the Cambridge Public Library are pleased to announce that O’Connell Branch Library at 48 Sixth St. will continue to offer five days of library service to the East Cambridge community in 2020.
Inspired by community requests to expand branch hours, the city has also shared its intention to offer at least five days of library service at all branch locations in FY 2021. Boudreau Branch Library, Collins Branch Library, and O’Neill Branch Library are currently open four days per week.
Beginning January 6, the hours of operation for O’Connell Branch will be:
Mondays and Fridays 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
The branch will now be open on Thursday evenings instead of Monday evenings, maintaining 46 open hours for the neighborhood. Monday evening service is available at the nearby Valente Branch Library located at 826 Cambridge St.
O’Connell Branch’s new hours of operation will go into effect on Monday, January 6. The branch will be open for limited hours during the last two weeks of the year due to the holidays: Monday, Dec. 23, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 26, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Monday, December 30, 10 a.m-6 p.m.; Tuesday, December 31, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Thursday, January 2, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
