Dear Patrons,

All Library locations will be closed on Monday, December 26. They will also be closed on Sunday, January 1, and Monday, January 2, for the New Year holiday. I wish you peace, happiness, and good health this holiday season.

Weekly Activities for Kids

This week, these programs will be offered at our Boudreau, Central Square, Collins, Main, O’Connell, O’Neill, and Valente locations:           

Studio Recording 101 (Main)
Tuesday, December 27
1:30-2:30 p.m.

Are you interested in podcasting, audio production, or video production? The Hive has two state-of-the-art recording studios! Join this workshop to become familiar with studio equipment and software. You must complete The Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop. Registration is required.

Knitting Group (Boudreau)
Tuesday, December 27
6:30-7:30 p.m.

Bring your project and enjoy an hour in the company of other crafters. Learn more.

Drop-in Winter Crafts (O'Neill)
Wednesday, December 28, and Thursday, December 29
2-4 p.m.

Drop in during vacation week to create cozy crafts and help decorate the library for the winter! Each day will feature a different activity. Learn more.

Vacation Week Stories and Crafts (Central Square)
Wednesday, December 28
2-5 p.m.

Drop into the Children's Room for an extended afternoon with fun crafts and stories. Recommended for ages 5-10. For more information, call 617-349-4010. Groups of 4 or more children are encouraged to call ahead.

The Hive Safety Training (Virtual)
Wednesday, December 28
7:30-8 p.m.

Are you interested in using The Hive? In this workshop you will learn about our makerspace, how to use our resources, and how to keep safe in The Hive. Find out what you need to get started as a maker in The Hive here.   Completion of The Hive Safety Training is the entry point to making, innovating, and collaborating in this space. Makers must also sign The Hive User Agreement and Waivers. Registration is required to participate in this workshop.

Fiber Crafts Group - Drop-In Thursdays (O'Connell)
Thursday, December 29
11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Bring your project and enjoy the company of other fiber crafters! Join this informal group to work on your craft, get inspired, pick up skills, and socialize. Knit, embroider, crochet, spin, mend, cross stitch, and more. All crafts are welcome! Learn more.  

Puzzle Party (Main)

2-3:30 p.m.

Join our staff librarian, Janet, for tea, cookies, and a jigsaw puzzle – an hour of fun and conversation on a Thursday afternoon!

Photo-Scanning Party (Boudreau)
Thursday, December 29
4-5 p.m.  

It’s time to scan all those photos that have been collecting dust in the basement, closet, and attic. Invite friends, bring your photo albums, and even bring something to eat and drink: it’s a party! As you share your memories, we’ll help you digitize your photographs (and documents, too). This way you can preserve them or share them online or even get them reprinted. You will have the peace of mind that those memories and moments won’t disappear. To participate, you will need photos and a USB drive (4GB or more recommended) or any hard drive. During this time, anyone who has completed The Hive Safety Training and is badged to use equipment or studio(s) can reserve The Hive’s equipment or studio spaces. Staff will assist participants as they are able. Learn more.

End of Year Celebration (O'Neill)

3-4:30 p.m.
