Cambridge Public Library will host a virtual communal reading of the Declaration of Sentiments from the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848 and the 1979 UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, on August 26 at 5:30 p.m. The reading is co-sponsored by the Mayor’s Office, the City Council, the City Manager’s Office, Commission on the Status of Women and the Human Rights Commission.

Dr. Aminah Pilgrim of the University of Massachusetts Boston will give an overview of the Women’s Suffrage Movement inspired by the Seneca Falls Convention and speak to the global movement for women’s rights embodied in the UN Convention prior to the reading.
