Deberly will play a mostly-Bach program, featuring songs for solo viola. Slightly bigger than the violin, the viola has a deeper, lower sound, and Deberly will choose songs which feature these strengths. The program is designed to be uplifting, restoring, and introspective, playing some of Bach's most well-known pieces, mixed in with some lesser-known hidden gems. This will expand beyond the norms of the concert hall, since you can listen to it as a recital program, focusing on the beauty and joy and intricacies of the piece, or leave it on while you work, clean, study, or play with the kids, to add some beauty and relaxation to your routine.

As a violist with a broad background in community music-making, Deberly Kauffman has been playing and teaching for over twenty years. In addition to many international tours, masterclass performances, and orchestral work, Deberly also actively works to create and run programs bringing music education and experience to underserved communities. This year, Deberly was a soloist in Concert for One as part of the Celebrity Series of Boston, and won Boston University’s Bach Competition. She has also been featured on NPR’s “From the Top”. Deberly is starting her Performance Diploma at Boston University, and received her Master’s in Music from Boston University and her B.A. from Princeton University.
