Join us as award-winning journalist and author Peter Goodman presents his best-selling book Davos Man: How the Billionaires Devoured the World, an NPR Best Book of the Year. In Davos Man, Goodman draws on decades of experience covering the global economy and profiles five representative “Davos Men”—members of the billionaire class—and chronicles how their shocking exploitation of the global pandemic has hastened a fifty-year trend of wealth centralization. Alongside this reporting, Goodman delivers textured portraits of those caught in Davos Man’s wake.

Over the course of three decades in journalism, Goodman has covered some of the most momentous economic transformations and upheavals – as The New York Times national economic correspondent, the Shanghai bureau chief for The Washington Post and as a technology reporter for The Washington Post. Goodman is a recipient of the Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism  and his work as part of the Times’ series on 2008 financial crisis was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Goodman will be in conversation with Kate Tuttle, Executive Editor at People Magazine, covering books. A past president of the National Book Critics Circle, Tuttle formerly edited the Books pages at The Boston Globe. This program is part of the Library's Our Path Forward Lecture Series and sponsored by the Cambridge Public Library Foundation.
