Autism Spectrum Disorders: An Overview and Discussion with Dr. Laura Gaugh

As of 2014, 1 in 59 children in the United States was diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD.) Symptoms of ASD emerge in early childhood and impact the way a person communicates and interacts with others, thinks and self-regulates. Through this introduction and discussion with Dr. Gaugh, learn more about this complex neurodevelopmental diagnosis, how it is diagnosed, and about some of the systems and services that can support individuals with ASD and their families.

 

Laura Gaugh, PsyD, is a pediatric neuropsychologist at the Cambridge Health Alliance and Instructor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. In her clinical role, she conducts evaluations in developmental psychology and pediatric neuropsychology of infants, children and adolescents. In her teaching role, she works with students in medicine, child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, and psychology.
