Survey from High School Parents Advisory Committee,

Meeting, Wednesday December 11, 1996 Joanne Ackman, Parent Coordinator. Martha Osler and Karen Carmean pass out surveys.

To provide access to all the people of Cambridge and to insure that we manage our resources well, Library 21 is gathering information from as many groups as possible about what the people want.

What would you like in the library?

A. Community Activity Center

  • Study carrels
  • Blocks play area
  • Chess on computers
  • Tetris game on computers
  • Activity area separate from books
  • Special events, some

B. Community Information Center

  • Study carrels
  • Homework on computers at library
  • Writing on computers at library
  • Reference materials expanded for special needs youth

  • Iíd like the building expansion to not make this neighborhood more congested.
  • Children's rooms are (were) terrific - Main and Central Square
  • More space is probably needed
  • For my personal needs, the present library is great and needs no improvement
  • Tables, However, from my observations, more reading/writing space (tables) could probably be used.
  • Great as is, childrenís space in main library
  • More light in stacks
  • Childrenís room in main library should include places for homework, computer use, reference area and librarian
  • Air-conditioned stacks
  • Playground area: Need close proximity to outside facilities (playground area) and the main library, particularly for the younger and preschool children
  • Use library Evening, weekends, Saturdays and Sundays
