Main Library Children's Room

Nestled in the treetops of Cambridge, the Children’s Room spans the 3rd floor of the Main Library. This space, designed for children ages 13 and younger, their caregivers, and those actively using our collections, will captivate and inspire kids of all ages. There’s always something going on in the Children’s Room!

We offer music and story programs for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers; activities and book groups for school-aged kids; special events for families; programs for parents and caregivers; and much more. Take a look here to find out what’s happening this week!

Our children’s collection includes books, magazines, music, movies, audio books, Nooks, iPads, games, materials in other languages, resources for parents and caregivers, reference books, databases, and computer stations. The Children’s Room collections serve kids of all ages as well as parents, caregivers, educators, librarians, and children’s literature scholars and enthusiasts. Stop by and sign up for a free library card today!

Group visits to the library and from library staff can be arranged by appointment. Children’s librarians will visit classes, preschools, and youth groups to provide more information on library cards, book sharing, storytelling, and more!
