The Cambridge Public Library began circulating STEAM kits for home use in mid-May 2019, at all locations. STEAM kits support learning in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and they are available for a range of ages. Kits can be checked out for a week and renewed up to two times.
Content cards are included in every kit so that patrons have an inventory and can do a brief check when returning the item. An EVAL card is also included in every kit for patrons to provide feedback about their experiences with it.
Look for the STEAM kits display at the Main Library next to the self check-out stations facing the elevators. When you want to check out a STEAM kit, you simply bring the related STEAM kit CD case to the circulation desk and a staff member will take the case, locate the STEAM kit, and check it out to you.
A list of the STEAM kits in circulation is available here. New and additional STEAM kits will continue to be added throughout the year, including those targeting teen and adult patrons. STEAM kits are a part of the STEAM at the Library initiative. To learn more about this initiative, visit http://bit.ly/cplsteam.
