City Manager Comment on Cycling Safety Ordinance

Comment from City Manager Louis A DePasquale regarding the Cycling Safety Ordinance Ordained on April 8, 2019 .

“I have been asked about the term “rare circumstances” and how it may influence the Cycling Safety Ordinance. I take rare to mean rare in a layman’s sense of the word, and in the context of the Ordinance, it is something which is infrequent, irregular, and exceptional. If an exception needs to be made, I fully understand that it will test trust and good faith dialog exercised during this process. I am committed to this Ordinance, and I am committed to maintaining the trust of the public. I look forward to continuing to work with all stakeholders to ensure Cambridge streets remain safe for all users.”
