The Office of Mayor Siddiqui and the Cambridge Public Schools team, led by Lyndsay Pinkus Brown, Chief Strategy Officer, and Robin Harris, Director of Family Engagement, organized and hosted a total of eight Family Resource Fairs throughout Cambridge between August 22, 2020 - November 14, 2020:

  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on August 22nd outside the Pisani Center
  • 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on August 22nd outside 808 Memorial Drive
  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on August 30th outside the Fresh Pond Apartments
  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on September 12th outside the King Open School
  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on September 19th outside the Peabody School
  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on November 3rd outside the Putnam Ave Upper School
  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on November 24th outside the Cambridge Public Library
  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on November 14th outside the Pisani Center

With professional interpreters at each site, Mayor Siddiqui and CPS successfully served over 500 families by providing information about back-to-school options and community resources, assistance in filling out important forms, addressing technology issues, and giving out free backpacks, school supplies, books and snacks.

"The CPS Family Fairs were a great collaboration between the Mayor's Office, CPS, and many community partners to provide families with information and resources while also practicing safe social distancing," said Superintendent Salim. "We look forward to continuing and expanding these Fairs when the weather warms up!"

We'd like to thank the many organizations and individuals who helped make these Fairs possible with their donations, time and partnership:

"I'm so glad that we were able to find a way to safely support our families face-to-face during this time," said Mayor Siddiqui. "I want to thank all of our amazing partners who made these Fairs possible, and big thank you to Lyndsay and Robin for all of their hard work."

Stay tuned for additional Family Resource Fairs in the spring through the Mayor's website at www.cambridgema.gov/departments/mayorsoffice. For more information or questions, please contact B. Kim, Education Liaison and Policy Advisor at BKim@cambridgema.gov.
