The Cambridge Community Learning Center (CLC) recently held its 44th Annual Graduation and Awards Ceremony at Cambridge Public Library. The Honorable Mayor Marc C. McGovern gave the opening remarks and congratulated the CLC graduates for furthering their education despite their many commitments and challenges.  He reiterated that the City of Cambridge supports them and values their contributions to the community.  City Manager Louis A. DePasquale, also commended the graduates for their persistence and achievements and recognized the work of the CLC staff.

This year, 69 graduates from the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Certified Nursing Assistant Training, High-School Diploma, and Bridge to College programs received certificates of completion.  Four students representing the graduating classes – Miguel Angel Illanes Rondon (ESOL), Valstie Laetitia Toussaint (Bridge), Stephanie Guillaume (CNA) and Isabel Haraguchi (high-school diploma) – addressed their classmates during the ceremony and reflected on their CLC experience.  In addition, 11 students were honored for attaining their citizenship this year.  CLC Volunteer of the Year, Lori Andersen, was also recognized for her generous contribution of time and her dedication to helping CLC students.  The Friends of the Community Learning Center presented 23 scholarships to outstanding students pursuing higher education at our local colleges and universities.  The recognition and celebration of CLC students was a memorable event.
