Traffic Impacts from Cambridge Half Marathon Sunday, Nov. 19

Cambridge Half Marathon 2017 Course

Expect traffic delays in Kendall Square, Central Square, Riverside & Cambridgeport from 7:30-8:30 a.m. during the 2017 Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 19. 
(Course Time Limit: 3 hours).

The 2017 Cambridge Half Marathon course starts at CambridgeSide then heads west through MIT & Harvard to the North Beacon St. bridge in Watertown before heading back along the banks of the Charles River to the finish line located in Canal Park. 

There will be rolling closures at Canal Park, First, Binney, Galileo Galilei, Vassar, Mass Ave, Albany, Erie, Sidney, Putnam Ave, Surrey, Cowperthwaite, and JFK streets.

The Cambridge Half Marathon will also impact bus service along the route. Please consult www.mbta.com for more information on detours and delays.

Route Details

Runners line up on First St at corner of Rogers St.
Turn right on Binney St, continue straight to Galileo Galilei Way, then continue to Vassar St,
Turn Right on Mass Ave, left on Albany St, right on Eire St,
Left on Sidney St, right on Putnam Ave, left on Surrey St, straight to Cowperthwaite St,
Left on DeWolfe St, Right on Memorial Drive roadway to JFK St, then bear left to enter Dr Paul Dudley White Bike Path,
Left after Cambridge Boat Club, go under the Eliot Bridge, continue behind American Legion Marsh Post, turn left at Belmont Hill Boathouse, continue on Bike Path,
Cross Arsenal St, continue on grass pathway, left on (“little”) Greenough Blvd [runners will proceed on roadway, road will be closed to traffic],
Left on N. Beacon St, left back onto White Bike Path, cross Arsenal St, continue on Bike Path,
Turn left on DCR driveway [Charles River Park 1], continue on Bike Path in front of Northeastern Boathouse, proceed straight on Bike Path through DCR Artesani Park using path closest to the river, Proceed under Eliot Bridge, continue straight on dirt path closest to river, pass Newell Boathouse,
Left on JFK St, turn right at Memorial Dr and re-enter Bike Path, continue on Bike Path past,
Cross Western Ave, Cross River St, transition onto Memorial Dr roadway at Pleasant St, continue on Memorial Dr over the BU Bridge Overpass, transition back onto Bike Path near BU Boathouse (cross street = Vassar), continue on Bike Path to MIT Boathouse (cross street = Fowler), transition onto Memorial Dr roadway, proceed under Mass Ave Bridge, transition back onto Bike Path, continue on Bike Path to Harvard Sailing Center (cross street = Wadsworth), transition onto Memorial Dr roadway, proceed under Longfellow Bridge,
Turn right at Cambridge Pkwy to re-enter Bike Path, continue along bank of Charles River,
Turn left and proceed under Land Blvd Bridge, continue on crushed stone path along Canal Park,
Turn left, proceed up ramp to Thorndike Place to finish line on Thorndike Place just prior to First St.
[Post Finish Line - Runners turn left on First St and continue on First​ ​to​ ​receive​ ​water​ ​and​ ​medals].
