Arrest Made in Connection with November 16th Cambridge Murder

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Branville Bard Jr. have confirmed that Kevin Reddick, 17, of Cambridge, has been arrested in connection with the November 16, 2017 shooting death of 28-year-old Malachi Mims. Reddick has been charged with murder, armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of armed assault with intent to rob, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition and possession of a loaded firearm. An arraignment date has been scheduled for Tuesday, January 2nd.

The defendant was located on Stuart Street in Boston on December 31 and placed under arrest. 

On November 16, 2017, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Cambridge Police responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Tremont and Hampshire Street in Cambridge. They  located the victim who was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.   The shooting was not believed to be random and the subsequent investigation led to the issuance of a warrant for the defendant's arrest.

These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. 

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Nicole Allain.
