Calling All Volunteers!

Cambridge Arts is seeking volunteers to assist with engaging and informing visitors during Cambridge Arts Open Studios, to take place Saturday, Sept. 29, and Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, between noon and 6 p.m. Volunteers will serve as representatives of the Cambridge Arts Council and Open Studios. Duties include common venue supervision, visitor directory, brochure distribution, and more.

Cambridge Arts Open Studios showcase visual, performing, and literary artists active in all neighborhoods of Cambridge. More than 150 Cambridge-based artists working in all media will participate in this celebration of art at approximately 80 venues throughout the city.

Qualifications: Candidates must have an enthusiasm for community arts and engagement with the public, and the ability to commit to at least one three-hour shift of volunteer time. Two shifts are preferred but not required.

Work Schedule: Saturday, Sept. 29, and/or Sunday, Sept. 30, between noon and 6 p.m. each day. Shifts are three hours each and volunteers are encouraged to work two shifts if possible.

This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved with nonprofit events and to meet other community members, as well as interact with local artists. Each volunteer will receive an invitation to the following three events:

1. Volunteer Planning Pizza Party: Monday, Sept. 24, from 6-8 p.m. at Cambridge Arts Council
This event will serve as an orientation for Open Studios volunteers during which they will have the opportunity to meet other participants, receive job assignments, and enjoy some pizza. This event is
mandatory for all volunteers.

2. Preview Showcase Exhibition: Thursday, Sept. 27, from 6-8 p.m. at Cambridge Art Association
This event will provide volunteers with the chance to preview the works of artists to be presented during the Open Studios weekend. Refreshments will be served.

3. Open Studios VIP Reception: Wed, Oct. 3, from 6-8 p.m. at Lesley University
Following the Open Studios weekend, this event will be Cambridge Arts’ celebration and appreciation for all participants of the event. Refreshments will be served.
