Annual Hydrant Testing will be conducted from April 29 through June 22, 2019. Testing will occur Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and again from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Testing on Saturdays will be in Commercial areas of the City only.

Hydrant testing is performed to ensure operability and to identify and repair those hydrants requiring maintenance. In addition to hydrant testing, crews will be performing water main flushing.

This testing may cause temporary discoloration and odor in the water. This typically lasts for only a short period of time and should clear up when running water after the testing. Residents and Business Owners are reminded to take precautions to avoid any dirty water inconveniences.

Below is a list of the fire companies that will be performing the testing, the areas that they serve and the dates they will be testing.

Engine 1 (Harvard Square) and Engine 2 (Lafayette Square) will be from April 29 to May 11.

Engine 6 (River Street)  and Engine 8 (Taylor Square) will be from May 12 to May 25.

Engine 3 (Lechmere Square) and Engine 4 (Porter Square) will be from May 28 to June 8

Engine 5 (Inman Square) and Engine 9 (Lexington Avenue) will be from June 10 to June 22
