Join the Cambridge Historical Commission in celebrating American Archives Month in October. The Historical Commission will offer several ways to learn about their special collections, while also highlighting the value of archival collections within municipal departments.
Ask an Archivist Day, Wednesday, Oct. 3
On Wednesday, Oct. 3, Cambridge Historical Commission will participate in the annual Ask an Archivist Day. On this day, archivists around the country will take to Twitter to respond to questions tweeted with the hashtag #AskAnArchivist. The Historical Commission’s Archivist will be ready to answer your questions about the Historical Commission’s collections, Cambridge history, or archives in general. No question is too silly or too practical! Follow @CambMA on Twitter on Oct. 3 (don’t forget to use the hashtag!), or send questions to histcomm@cambridgema.gov.
Tour City of Cambridge Archives Oct. 10 & Oct. 22
The Cambridge Historical Commission will also offer free tours of their archives and a look at some of their Cambridge-centric collections items on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m., or Monday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m., at their office, 831 Massachusetts Avenue. Space is limited, so email egonzalez@cambridgema.gov to sign up.

American Archives Month is a collaborative effort by professional organizations and repositories around the nation to highlight the importance of records of enduring value.
