Sidewalk Poetry by Molly Lynn Watt on Prospect Street, Cambridge.

Would you like to help select poetry to be imprinted in sidewalks throughout Cambridge? The City of Cambridge seeks jurors to participate in the selection process for its 2022 Sidewalk Poetry Contest. After taking a necessary pandemic break last year, we are restarting the program and will be composing a selection committee in the next few weeks. If you are interested, please fill out the online application: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSda6NKTV6yda-ZeXEiA6lqoluU8ZodM6tqKDEhCUddSfeMQEw/viewform

JUROR REQUIREMENTS: Jurors will be expected to read approximately 150 poetry submissions on their own time, select five top choices, and then convene with the rest of the committee in one 3-hour virtual meeting to discuss the top choices and select five winners and five runners-up. Each juror will be paid a $250 honorarium.

Jurors will review all poems submitted to the contest without any attached identifying information of the person who submitted the poem. The Sidewalk Poetry Contest receives poems from Cambridge residents of all ages. If you are interested in submitting a poem to the 2022 Sidewalk Poetry Contest, you should not apply to be a juror.

The Cambridge Sidewalk Poetry Program is an ever-popular program that each year selects five winners and five runners-up from the pool of submissions. The five winning poems will be stamped in sidewalks around the city. The poems selected as runners-up will be posted on the website, along with the five winners. For more information and examples of past contest winners, visit the website and Sidewalk Poetry map: cambridgema.gov/sidewalkpoetry.
.
The deadline to apply is January 31. We will contact you if you are selected as a Juror. Preference will be given to those living or working in Cambridge. Please contact us with any questions at 617-349-4388 or sidewalkpoetry@cambridgema.gov.
