$2 Million Thank you to Takeda

Cambridge Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui and City Manager Louis DePasquale today expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the City to Takeda Pharmaceutical for its $2 million donation to the Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund. The Fund was established to provide emergency assistance to individuals, families and small businesses in Cambridge who are experiencing extreme financial hardship caused by disasters such as the current COVID-19 pandemic. Takeda employs more than 2700 workers in Cambridge and has long been a leader of the City’s business and civic community.

“Takeda’s generous contribution to the Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund is a testament to their commitment to Cambridge and the people who make up this city,” Mayor Siddiqui said. “These funds are going to help so many families get through this difficult time. We are truly thankful for this investment into our city and people.”

Takeda has been a strong community partner over the years - from employee volunteerism to their annual community day of service. Takeda leadership and its employees show up and are deeply committed to giving back to the City of Cambridge.

“The City is deeply touched by the generosity of Takeda and all of those who have donated to this fund to support their friends, neighbors, and community,” said City Manager DePasquale. “We are incredibly fortunate to have partners in the business community who, even in tough times, give back to and invest in Cambridge. This donation will go a long way in supporting individuals, families, and small businesses who are experiencing financial hardship resulting from this outbreak.”

Given the magnitude of the impact of COVID-19 on Cambridge residents, the City is gathering all available resources to help those who are in crisis. To contribute to this effort and help individuals, families, and small businesses who are bearing the brunt of this public health emergency, please to make a secure donation through the Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund website at www.cambridgema.gov/MayorsDisasterReliefFund
