42nd Annual Oktoberfest This Sunday; Expect Traffic Impacts in Harvard Square Due to Event

Please be advised of traffic impacts this Sunday, October 10 due to the Harvard Square Business Association’s 42nd annual Oktoberfest.

The following streets will be closed starting at 6 a.m. on October 10: 

  • Massachusetts Avenue southbound from Garden to JFK (northbound lane will remain open)
  • Church Street
  • Brattle Street from JFK to Hilliard
  • Mount Auburn Street from Brattle to JFK
  • JFK Street from Mount Auburn to Brattle


The Oktoberfest event will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. Streets are expected to reopen to traffic once the area and vendors have cleared.

As a reminder, Riverbend Park is opened (Memorial Drive is closed to vehicular traffic) in the City of Cambridge from Western Avenue to Gerry's Landing Road on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for pedestrian and cyclist use through the end of November 2021. Traffic patterns will be clearly marked.
