Cambridge, MA October 15, 2020 --- Today the Cambridge Public Library announced a new program offering introductory level workshops on augmented reality, Augmented Stories. The workshop series will offer participants the opportunity to learn about augmented reality (AR) by creating experiences to address real world problems through AR technology.

Augmented Stories is a collaborative, community arts-based storytelling program that provides opportunities to create and share creative work with an audience through three four-week long workshops: AR for Art (fall 2020), AR Walks (winter 2021) and AR Performances (spring 2021). These workshops will utilize AR technologies to bring digital content into everyday physical spaces.

Facilitated by the developers of Hoverlay, AR for Art is a four-week workshop designed for those interested in art and design. Participants will create life-like “digital twins” of artwork using AR and explore opportunities to develop content that aligns with their personal interests. Works created in the program will be showcased at a final experience open to community members. The workshop begins on Wednesday, October 21, from 6-8 p.m. and it continues through Wednesday, November 11. On Wednesday, November 18 participants are invited to share their work with the public in a virtual community showcase event. Those interested in the series can sign up for the four-week long workshop on the Library website.
