Students in the Creative Design Program at the Rindge School of Technical Arts designed logos for The Hive makerspace located in Cambridge Public Library’s Main Library. Talented designers submitted over 45 logo concepts as part of a Live Work contest to create branding for the space in anticipation of its opening this summer. Senior Anita Cuddihy’s design won first prize and junior Jean Altidor’s design came in second. A design by junior, Alexander Liebson, ranked third and senior Priya Landrigan’s came in fourth. Honorable mentions were awarded to junior Sharmin Hoq and sophomore Evan Garvey. Prizes were generously provided by the Cambridge Public Library Foundation and Cambridge Trust

Creative Design Educator and Designer Michele Watson Maxwell remarks, “The Live Work contests enable students to experience real world client connection and see their design skills valued. Student designers continually impress clients with their work and develop impressive design portfolios in the process. We are delighted to design a logo for a space that promotes creativity and skill development for the Cambridge community and excited for students to utilize The Hive.”

Of the submitted designs, Damon Avent, Manager of The Hive noted, “Having worked in the design industry for many yearsI am completely impressed by the level of talent this group of young people holds. We are so excited to open our doors this summer and to welcome these students to use The Hive to continue learning, creating, and exploring."
