The Mayor’s Office is seeking nominations for the 2020 Cambridge Food Hero Awards, which will take place virtually this year on December 2, 2020. A Food Hero is someone who:
- Helps promote healthier diets and/or access to healthier food;
- Supports local farms, gardens, or urban agriculture;
- Works to reduce hunger or fights for food justice;
- Supports sustainable agriculture or fishing;
- Fights for better working conditions for food workers or farm workers;
- Works in schools, own a business, is a chef, a student, a food writer or educator; and/or
- Has done food hero work for years or is just getting started. It can be anyone who helps make food better for all of us!
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen community members show up as heroes for their neighbors”, said Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui. “Whether someone has been a food hero for years or stepped up for their neighbors during this critical time, we want to know who you think should be this year’s Cambridge Food Hero.”
