Starting June through October 2021, Mayor Siddiqui will partner with Cambridge Public Schools to host a second year of CPS Community Resource Fairs. These Community Fairs encourage parents and caregivers to join their children to connect with different resources available, receive free books, supplies, and more.
Fairs of this kind present a great opportunity to build connections and share valuable information. The goal and primary focus of this partnership is to provide Cambridge families with resources to connect with CPS staff and receive school-related assistance.
“Last fall, we held these community resource fairs to provide additional support to students and their families during remote learning. In addition to providing technical support and connecting families to resources such as school supplies and books, this effort also provided meaningful connection to one another during a time our community needed it most,” said Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui. “While we start the process of returning to normalcy, we want to continue bringing these critical resources to families and continue maintaining that connection throughout the summer.”
"Our resource fairs are a way to share information and resources with caregivers. It's an opportunity for city and school leadership to engage with and build relationships with families in a relaxed, informal atmosphere," said Robin Harris, CPS Director of Family Engagement.
2021 CPS Community Fairs will take place outdoors from 10am to 12pm at these three dates and locations:
- June 5th at Pisani Center,131 Washington Street (rain date: June 12th)
- September 25th at Haggerty School, 110 Cushing Street (rain date: October 2nd)
- October 16th at MLK School,102 Putnam Avenue (rain date: October 23rd)
