Expect Traffic Impacts from Multiple Events in Cambridge this Weekend

The following events will cause some traffic delays in various areas of Cambridge this weekend of September 24-26:

Friday, September 24, 2021

  • Harvard Marching Band. On Friday, September 24, the Harvard Marching Band will march from 74 Mt. Auburn around Harvard Square to the Harvard Stadium in Allston. Expect short delays on Holyoke St, Mt Auburn St, Plympton St, Mass Ave, continuing to Eliot St. and JFK St starting at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, September 25, 2021

  • Run to Home Base 5K and 10K Road Races Saturday, September 25, 8:15-9 a.m. Race routes start at Fenway Park and include Memorial Drive, between BU Bridge and Cambridge Parkway, and Mass Ave, between Mass Ave Bridge and Vassar Street.

  • Celebration of the Life of Robert Paris Moses Saturday, September 25, 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Events will include a memorial service and parade/band procession, in and around Central Square.  Expect limited traffic delays in the vicinity of Norfolk and Harvard Streets, near Saint Mary of the Annunciation Parish. The parade will travel through The Port and conclude at Starlight Square.

  • Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre Dance For World Community Festival Saturday, September 25, from 12-8 p.m. Mass Ave will be closed from Putnam Ave and Trowbridge St to Bow and Quincy Streets from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Expect traffic impacts between Central Square and Harvard Square.

Sunday, September 26, 2021

  • Paddy’s 5K Road Race Sunday, September 26, at 10 a.m., in West Cambridge, followed by a block party. Walden Street will be closed between Garden and Sherman Streets from 7a.m.- 7 p.m. Expect delays along the race route between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., impacting Walden St, from Garden St to Raymond St, Raymond St to Huron Ave, Huron Ave to Sherman St, Sherman St to Rindge Ave, Rindge Ave to Cedar St, Cedar St to Harvey St, Harvey St to Russell Field, Russell Field to Rindge Ave, Rindge Ave to Sherman St, Sherman St to Walden St. For more information, contact Event Director Ruth Allen at 617-547-8739 or click here.
