As part of the Envision Cambridge process, the planning team also focused on a plan specific to the Alewife district, due to Alewife's potential for growth. The Alewife Plan sets a bold vision for the future of Alewife, and includes actionable recommendations on a range of topics, including land use, urban form, open space, mobility, climate and environment, housing, and the economy.
The Alewife Plan is informed by the area's unique development and planning history. The planning process prioritized the preservation of the area's existing economy and the integration of complementary uses.
