The City of Cambridge will celebrate new solar panels on the Graham & Parks School with a family-friendly Solar Festival on Saturday, September 24.  The event will run from 3-5 p.m. There will be a brief speaker series, ribbon cutting, games, and other family-friendly activities. Light refreshments will be served.

The solar panels are owned by over 41,000 Cambridge Community Electricity (CCE) customers.

“We’re proud to celebrate this collective achievement,” said Acting City Manager, Owen O’Riordan. “Ours is the only electricity aggregation program in Massachusetts to invest in a local solar project using the contributions of program participants."

CCE is a City program that gives a Cambridge residents and businesses an alternative to Eversource’s Basic Service. Since the start of CCE in 2017, customers have saved over $22M on their electricity bills.

“This project represents the true spirit of electricity aggregation and local climate action,” said Assistant City Manager for Community Development, Iram Farooq. “It is a testament to what we can accomplish when we leverage our collective power and commitment to fighting climate change. We can’t wait to celebrate with the community.”
