Box 4334 - Fire at 820 Massachusetts Avenue

Shortly before 2 p.m on Sunday, Jan 12, 2025, Box 4334 was transmitted for a fire on floor 4 of 820 Massachusetts  Avenue, a 5 story, brick & wood residential building. The fire was quickly confined to a mattress in one apartment.

 

One sprinkler head had operated to contain the fire until arrival of the fire companies. Companies completed extinguishment by 215 p.m, however firefighters continued the operation effecting ventilation of smoke & gases, overhauling the area to ensure complete extinguishment, as well as evacuating occupants as needed & ensuring the safety of all residents. One resident was treated by paramedics & transported to a medical facility by Pro EMS as a precaution for non-life-threatening injury. FD units had cleared from the scene by 330 p.m.

A full assignment of 3 engines, 2 ladders, 1 squad, the Rescue, & Division Chief 1 (approximately 23 firefighters) worked at the fire.

Group 4 was on duty.
