A resident of Avon was arrested for Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault and Battery, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon after a fight ensued on Massachusetts Avenue during the Caribbean Festival. Witnesses stated that the resident pulled the hair of a victim during a physical altercation and when trying to question the parties involved,struck a police officer with a closed fist and kicked the officer with a shod foot.

This was a result of a 911 call where an identified reporting party reported that he observed a tan colored pick-up truck driving erratically, "hopped curb and struck something on Cardinal Medeiros, got back in and drove off."

Cambridge Police responded to Mooney Street for a larceny of a motor vehicle in-progress. A short time later, that vehicle was located on Concord Avenue. Officers attempted to stop the motor vehicle; however, it fled, last seen headed down Concord Avenue in the direction of Wheeler Street. A short time later, that motor vehicle was discovered abandoned on Fresh Pond Parkway after it struck two motor vehicles in traffic. The operator fled the scene after it was last seen headed into Fresh Pond Reservation. The vehicle was towed and a report was taken. Multiple documents with the suspect’s name were later located by officers and a Cambridge residents is being summonsed for an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Using a Motor Vehicle without Authority, Possession of an Electric Stun Gun, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, and Failure to Stop for the Police.

THIRD ST
Cambridge Police responded for an unwanted person at Third Street after a woman refused to leave the area following a court proceeding. There was suspicion by the reporting party that the female was lingering to confront a judge she had made threats to earlier in the day. A motor vehicle stop of the woman’s vehicle was conducted on Sciarappa Street at Otis Street after confirming the license plate of the vehicle matched the suspect vehicle. During the motor vehicle stop, the female operator refused to identify herself or produce her license and registration after it was requested two times. The female operator matched the photo of the owner of the vehicle, Elena Moreira, 32, 200 Massmills Drive in Lowell, whose license was listed as suspended. This was explained to the operator, at which time she was directed to turn off the vehicle. The operator then rolled up her window and proceeded to drive away from officers down Sciarappa Street towards Cambridge Street. At the intersection of Third Street and Cambridge Street, the suspect vehicle was stopped in traffic and Moreira was safely taken into custody. Moreira is being charged with the following in Cambridge District Court: Operating a vehicle with a Suspended License; Number Plate Violation, Failure to Stop for Police; and, Refusing to Identify Self.

Cambridge Police placed Angela Duenas, 22, Staten Island, New York, under arrest for Uttering a False Check, Forgery Of Check, and False Name or Social Security after Arrest. Duenas was placed under arrest after she attempted to deposit a check valued at $19,000, at a local bank. After handing the check over to bank employees, they were able to determine that the check was fraudulent. After being placed under arrest during the booking, Duenas provided a false name to officers.
