Cambridge Police initiated a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Broadway and Prospect Street. Upon further investigation, a resident of Everett was found to be operating a motor vehicle on a public way after his license was suspended. As a result, a criminal application will be sought in Cambridge District Court charging the driver in violation of Operating After Suspension and a Red Light Violation.

A Cambridge resident reported a larcenous scheme by a construction company on May 25, 2023 at approximately 3:30 p.m. The victim stated that she paid $5,000 of a $20,000 estimate for exterior work on her home in January 2023. The work was later determined to be unnecessary and improper. This incident appears to be one of many similar scams by the same company around the greater Boston area.

Cambridge Police were flagged down by a victim and witnesses that a male had almost hit them with his car and one of the victims was threatened with a knife. A short time later, the suspect was found in a nearby parking lot in the vehicle witnesses had observed. After an investigation, it was determined that Anthony Newsome, 60, 1640 Washington Street in Boston, threatened to stab the victim with a knife. Consequently, Newsome was placed under arrest and is being charged in Cambridge District Court with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon to wit a knife.

A Cambridge resident reported an incident regarding the extortion of a family member on May 25, 2023. A suspect threatened to release intimate photos of her family member he had acquired via social media if he wasn't paid a certain amount of money. The victim made a partial payment before halting contact with the suspect.
