Officers noticed Lawrence showed red and glossy eyes, spoke with slurred speech, and had a heavy smell of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. Standard Field Sobriety Testing was administered. Test were ceased due to Lawrence inability to follow directions and maintain his balance. Two opened bottles of brandy were observed in the front passenger seat compartment next to Lawrence. He was observed operating the motor vehicle while the driver's seat was completely reclined. Prior to the stop, the Cambridge Emergency Communication Center (ECC) received three separate calls from three different locations, regarding a loud radio broadcast coming from a motor vehicle. Officers were able to locate the noise and determined that it was coming from Lawrence's vehicle. He attempted to drive off and, in doing so, backed into a marked cruiser with its blue emergency lights activated. William Lawrence was arrested for OUI - Liquor, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Open Container of Alcohol, Impeded Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Unnecessary or Objectionable Noise from a Motor Vehicle, and Disturbing the Peace.
